An inskirt or petticoat is a waist to floor garment very similar to a skirt. It is tied with the help of a drawstring at the waist. It is one of the supplementary garments to be worn along with a saree, the other one being the blouse. Inskirts are usually made of polyester or cotton fabric and are of the same color as the sari. An inskirt may be of different types; like with an elastic waistband or drawstring waistband, flared or pencil type and finally, frilled or plain inskirt. Most inskirts consist of many A - line panels as that gives a slim silhouette and utilizes very less fabric. This type of inskirt is comfortable to wear in hot weather or when you need to walk a lot. It has more space for proper movement and air circulation. An inskirt is a must when wearing a saree and gives the basic shape to a saree.
